Piano Lesson FAQ
While it’s possible to learn basic piano skills through online tutorials and apps, professional lessons at Harmony & Pitch offer significant advantages. Our qualified instructors provide personalized feedback, correct technique from the start, and structured progressions through ABRSM/TCL grades. Self-teaching often leads to bad habits that are difficult to unlearn later. Our teachers identify and correct issues early, ensuring proper posture, finger technique, and musical interpretation from day one.
Our piano lesson fees are structured to provide excellent value while remaining competitive in Singapore’s music education market. Pricing varies based on several factors:

- 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute individual sessions
- Flexible scheduling to fit your lifestyle and learning pace
Value-added benefits included:
- Comprehensive curriculum covering technique, theory, sight-reading, and aural skills
- ABRSM/TCL exam preparation and registration support
- Regular progress assessments and performance opportunities
- Access to our music library and practice resources
Package options available:
- Multi-lesson packages with attractive discounts

We believe in transparent, fair pricing with no hidden fees. Contact us for a personalized quote based on your specific needs and goals. We also offer trial lessons so you can experience our teaching quality before committing to a program.
Piano lessons can begin as early as 4-5 years old, though the ideal starting age depends on individual readiness rather than chronological age. We assess each child’s:
- Hand size and finger independence
- Attention span and ability to follow instructions
- Interest and motivation in music
For adults, it’s never too late to start! We have successful students ranging from preschoolers to seniors in their 70s. Our teaching methods are adapted for different age groups and learning styles.
Progress varies by individual, but here are typical timelines:
- Grade 1: 6-12 months for beginners
- Grades 1-5: 2-4 years with consistent practice
- Grades 5-8: Additional 2-3 years
- Complete beginner to Grade 8: 4-7 years average
Factors affecting progress include practice frequency, natural aptitude, lesson consistency, and individual goals. Our structured programs and regular assessments help students progress efficiently toward their musical objectives.
Not immediately! We recommend:
- Week 1-4: Use our studio instruments during lessons to determine commitment level
- Month 1-3: Consider a digital piano with weighted keys (88 keys minimum)
- After 6 months: Upgrade to upright piano if space and budget allow, if not digital piano is fine.
We provide guidance on instrument selection. Our studios are also available for practice rental if home practice space is limited.
